Home > Review of Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas Blvd. (aka the Strip)
The 3933-room Bellagio is a luxury hotel and casino, owned by MGM Resorts International and is located right in the middle of the main strip adjacent to West Flamingo Road (about 5 km from the airport which is a 15 minute journey). It is perhaps the archetypal luxurious Vegas hotel and an example of beautiful, elaborate architecture.
Its central location, next to Caesars Palace and Paris just across the strip means that if you do stay at the Bellagio, then you're probably a leisurely stroll away from some or all of the attractions that you may wish to visit.
The Bellagio features in our list of top Las Vegas hotels for poker players.
Inspired by the Hotel Bellagio on Lake Como in Italy, it is fronted by perhaps the most famous fountains in the world, set in an eight acre lake which lies directly by the strip for tourists to see in all their glory many times each day. The hotel is surrounded by a complex of lush gardens designed in a Mediterranean style, with sculptures and beautiful greenery - none more beautiful than those within the botanical gardens and conservatory.
The hotel includes thirteen restaurants, including seven gourmet eateries such as Picasso, with its sumptuous french menu, and Yellowtail Sushi. Bars, lounges, night clubs, shops, a huge, sprawling casino, the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts, a pool complex with no less than five swimming pools, whirlpools and sundecks are just part of the complex.
The choice of rooms is large and most are spacious and since the renovation in 2012, the rooms have a warm yet modern feel to them that we think will be around for some time to come. As you would expect, large screen televisions are included in all basic rooms, with much more interesting setups for the very rich people of the world (alas, I don't think we'll ever get invited to those Villas!). We are particularly fond of the bathrooms at the Bellagio - for some reason, they really go to town on this aspect - and the showers are just wonderful!
Even the poker rooms at the Bellagio are so clean you can eat your dinner off the floor - and poker players can be pigs, sometimes.
Cirque du Soleil perform daily at the Bellagio and their presence only heightens the feeling of luxury that exudes from every aspect of the hotel, be it design, food, entertainment or relaxation. The fine art in the gallery only adds to this, as do the very high end Gucci and Chanel boutiques.
For poker fans, the 40 or so tables offer a good, high-level of action most days (and good tournaments) and of course, for those with serious, serious money, there's Bobby's Room, named after 1978 World Series of Poker Champion, Bobby Baldwin. But if you can afford to play in Bobby's Room then you wouldn't need to be viewing this site, as your butler will be booking your Vegas holiday for you!
Also of note: The Bellagio has one of the best buffets in Vegas. Guests can select from some of the nicest seafood, American, Japanese and Italian cuisine on the strip. The Picasso restaurant features in our list of great Vegas hotel restaurants, too.
