eSports Betting allowed at Downtown Grand, Las Vegas

Earlier this month the Downtown Grand Las Vegas was allowed to take bets on the League of Legends tournament at the Intel Extreme Masters Oakland CS:GO Championship. Due to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of 2006, which prohibits US players from many online gambling sites such as online poker sites, casinos must get the state's permission to allow the wagers.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board granted the Downtown Grand's request; which is the first time it has been allowed in Nevada. Only time will tell whether it will become widely accepted. The Grand certainly hopes so as they have already made strides in providing its guests ways to enjoy eSports having opened a lounge earlier this year designated just for such events.
