Home > A review of the Delano Hotel in Las Vegas, NV
The Delano Hotel (previously THEhotel) is a 45 story luxury boutique hotel consisting of 1,117 spacious suites located on the south end of Las Vegas blvd. The Delano's parent hotel, Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino is located on the same property and is next door to The Luxor hotel and casino, and a short 5-minute cab ride from the airport. The Delano is owned by the MGM Resorts International group in partnership with Morgans Hotel Group.
This smoke-free hotel keeps guests at ease, allowing them to enjoy the Mandalay Bay casino at their leisure and then stroll back to their fresh and very, very quiet suite for some relaxation. We found this to be a perfect escape from the noise and bustle of the 24-hour casino.
The Delano offers distinct eating and drinking options. Located on the property are a couple of bars and restaurants. Della's Kitchen offers its guests a unique menu of farm style cooking meets urban kitchen. In fact, some of the ingredients are grown in a greenhouse on the property. Fresh is what we found at Della's while tasting some of the locally baked bread. If you are looking for a one of a kind view with an internationally inspired menu, we found Rivea to be fantastic, and with celebrated Chef, Alain Ducasse to be great indeed - it delivers a french/italian influenced array of mouth watering dishes. The Skyfall lounge located on the top floor of the Delano offers 180 degree views of the Las Vegas strip that I simply never get bored of seeing, even 10 years after my first stay in Vegas. Grab a cocktail and dance to the beats of the uber-cool (well, they were to us) DJs from 9pm until close. The Franklin bar was surprisingly good - from the Delano Daiquiris to the punch bowl which one of our group (who shall remain nameless) drank way too much of.
We genuinely felt like we were much poorer than other guests at the Delano, so if you do want to impress, tell people you've stayed here!
The Delano Beach Club, exclusive to Delano guests, offers a submerged chess board and signature cocktails. The Delano's Bathhouse Spa features twelve treatment rooms for facials, wraps and massages. There are also saunas and steam rooms to detox and relax in. This was all very luxurious and probably meant for the likes of people with much more class than us!
Delano is a ★★★★★ hotel located on the Vegas strip. Opened in 2014, it is two years of age. With approx. one thousand, one hundred rooms it's tiny for Las Vegas. Delano is an excellent hotel
Mandalay Bay also offers some great amenities of course - the Convention Center, Events Center, casino and Mandalay Bay Beach which does feel like a different world to the rest of Vegas - if you close your eyes and rake your hand in the sand while drinking a gin and tonic in the other.
The rooms have been designed to a high-end boutique styling, setting them apart from other rooms at Mandalay Bay and are medium-to-large and very impressive, facilities-wise. It was very luxurious and we felt a bit inferior to the other guests, who were obviously more affluent than us, but we held our own (but they didn't know about the Panda Express we sneaked into our room - take that, rich people!). We loved it, we have to say.
