Home > Review of Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas
Having stayed at the Delano a few months back I was extremely excited for the stay at the Mandalay Bay, especially having got a really cheap deal. I spent countless hours reading review after review and a bad one was such a rarity that it left me more excited for my stay. I had read all about the world famous aquatic play featuring real sand, wave pool and lazy river and I couldn't wait to rent a cabana for the day.
I already knew that Mandalay Bay was at the far south end of the strip but it wasn't until we arrived at the hotel to realize just how much of a walk it was going to be to get to all the 'Strip attractions'. It's between the Luxor and Excalibur which you can easily walk to and from with ease.
Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino is a 4-star hotel positioned on the southern end of the strip. Opening its doors in 1999, it's a mere eighteen years ago that the cards were first dealt at the tables here. Having 3,300 rooms, it's one of Sin City's biggest resorts and Mandalay Bay is always a delightful hotel to stay in, we say. A big favorite among lots of Vegas visitors.
The hotel had lovely cobbled floors outside the entrance and when I walked through the doors of the lobby I knew that the quality of this hotel wasn't going to disappoint. It was phenomenal, with its huge pillars, marble floors and statues galore - it really had a luxurious feel to it and it reminded me a little of Caesars Palace which we have stayed at in the past.
Check-in really was a breeze. I had used the mobile check in and this meant that we were on our way to our room within 10 minutes. I had booked a King resort room and I had requested a high floor to ensure a good view of the strip and the room was very large and clean. It has floor to ceiling windows which delivered a spectacular view, there was a king size bed (extremely comfortable), a seating area big enough for three people, his a hers closets and a 47" flat screen TV and with its vibrant naturalistic blue and green colors, it was a comfortable atmosphere. The bathroom was very tasteful, marble with both a shower and a large roman tub (no jets tho), the toilet area is enclosed which I think is a nice touch as it keeps it separate from the shower area.
The real draw of this place is the pool. The days we spent poolside were amazing; it really was as good as all the reviews and deserves its world famous status. I would definitely recommend going to one of the daylight pool parties, there was such a brilliant, cool vibe.
This hotel has got so many worthwhile reasons to stay. It's got a great place for breakfast: Rafael's Cafe. the shark reef aquarium, a live production theater, and burger bar, which has the best burgers in Vegas (in my opinion anyway!)
The casino is great and it was everything I expected from a Vegas experience, my husband spent more time here than me, but he says it's what you would expect from a casino and he has no complaints.
The service that we received during our stay was impeccable and matches the quality and standard of the hotel perfectly.
Overall I am over the moon with the Mandalay Bay. I will be returning in the future and will be recommending to a lot of people. I think it will be the perfect hotel to have a family Vegas trip with - it's slightly away from the hustle and bustle and the pool will keep them entertained for hours. Impressed is an understatement.ReviewsOfVegasHotels.com - Las Vegas casino/hotels reviewed including atriums, views, entertainment, gaming floors, wedding chapels but no strippers!
